FactMatters is an AI-powered content verification platform that analyzes text for factual accuracy. The Service uses artificial intelligence to identify potential factual issues and cross-references claims with available sources. The Service is provided for informational purposes and should not be considered as definitive fact-checking or legal advice.

3. User Accounts

To use certain features of the Service, you must create an account using Google OAuth. You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your account
  • All activities that occur under your account
  • Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use
  • Ensuring your account information is accurate and up-to-date

4. Runs, Balance & Payment

The Service operates on a run-based and pay-as-you-go system:

  • Runs or EUR balance are required to perform fact-checks
  • Runs are included with subscription plans and reset each billing cycle
  • Subscription runs do not roll over to the next billing cycle
  • EUR balance added via top-ups does not expire
  • Purchases are non-refundable except as required by law
  • We reserve the right to modify pricing with notice

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload illegal, harmful, or offensive content
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures or access controls
  • Use automated systems to access the Service without permission
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Infringe on the intellectual property rights of others

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its design, features, and content, is owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You retain ownership of content you submit for fact-checking. By submitting content, you grant us a limited license to process it for the purpose of providing the Service.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of fact-check results. The Service should be used as a tool to assist your research, not as a sole source of verification. We are not responsible for decisions made based on fact-check results.

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim.

9. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violation of these terms or for any other reason at our discretion. You may terminate your account at any time through the Settings page. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease, and any unused runs or balance will be forfeited.

These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union and applicable local laws. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of the jurisdiction where the company is registered.
